Matol as it is called in Canada is classed as a therapeutic liquid preparation and Km as it is called in the USA is classed as a food supplement. Although one would benefit from each individual ingredient, the uniqueness of the product lies in its synergy. The molecular bonding of each ingredient to the next produces a product which is an entirely new substance greater than the sum of its parts.

What is the Normal dosage?
The standard daily dosage is 1 ounce per day
1/2 ounce in the morning, 1/2 ounce in the afternoon or early evening is suggested.
(You my wish to buy an 8 oz Matol flask)

--- However, you may wish to start with 1 tablespoon daily and work up to a full dosage. Infants & small animals can start off with just a few drops daily.

Many people adjust their dosage and the time of day they take Matol/ Km based on their own particular needs and health strategies.

In Canada, the bottle of Matol lists an intake of two tablespoons twice a day (two ounces per day) which is in compliance with the labeling requirements of Health and Welfare, Canada's Food and Drug Division, which states that it is necessary to indicate the maximum daily intake on the bottle.

In the United States, Km's amount is half that amount: one tablespoon twice a day. Equaling one ounce per day. As far as the FDA in Washington is concerned, Km is considered a mineral food supplement. Therefore, the amount is up to the individual. Matol and Dr. Jurak both feel that one tablespoon twice a day should be ample for just about anyone. Again, it all depends on your weight, your metabolism, your well-being and your level of activity.

To sum it up, in Canada, the amount listed on the bottle refers to the maximum daily amount as suggested by Health and Welfare. In the United States, the amount listed simply refers to the suggested daily amount.

Should everyone begin by taking the full amount?
No. We recommend very strongly that older people, those with serious ailments, people who are taking any medication for a major malady and children under five years of age, start with less. They should begin with one teaspoon or less per day, preferably mixed with milk, water or their favorite juice. This makes it easier for the body to assimilate the product. Everyone should try the first bottle in various ways to find their own comfort zone and requirements.

How long does one bottle last?
One bottle lasts one person one month, taking 1 ounce per day.

Why does the product not have the FDA approval marked on it?
In Canada the product Matol is approved by the Health and Welfare Department, and a DIN number is indicating that approval is printed on the bottle. In the United States, the FDA never does give an approval on a package of food product. The FDA's function is to grant approval on new drugs. Km is a food supplement, not a drug, and therefore would not receive FDA approval under current guidelines. However, the FDA closely monitors the distribution and sales of food products such as ours in the United States. They determine labeling (i.e., what is said about the product on the label). They also decide if any of the product ingredients are unsafe. Our product has been determined to be safe and acceptable as a food supplement in the United States. Matol will continue to work in concert with the FDA in insuring that the American public will continue to receive only those products that are safe for consumption.

Why in Canada is the product considered to be a therapeutic preparation with the Health and Welfare Department's DIN approval stamp on it, while in the United States it is considered to be a food supplement without an approval stamp?
The answer to this question is quite simple. Different countries have different criteria and stipulations in terms of categorizing products. What may be considered a food in one country may have a completely different categorization in another. When our product is introduced to another country, the categorization may be different yet again.

What about using with medications?
If there were any contra-indications when using our products Matol (and the FDA) would have indicate that on the label. As you can see, the label does not carry and contra-indications.

Whatever the malady, or whatever medications you might be taking, we do suggest that you always begin with a small quantity, such as a teaspoon or less per day, mixed in a glass of milk, water or your favorite juice.

In all cases though, do not discontinue any prescribed medications. If you take small quantities of our product and feel better, you may ask your doctor if you can stop taking some of the medication but do not do it on your own, no matter what anybody says.

What about secondary effects?
If there are any secondary effects, they will appear briefly and will not be severe. These possible secondary effects could be manifested by diarrhea, constipation, light-headedness, headache, itchy sensations or nausea.

These are not symptoms that only Matol/ Km can produce. There are many products on the market that the body is not familiar with. When these products are consumed, the body may temporarily react with the described symptoms.

If any of these secondary effects do occur, they are only temporary. If you stop taking the product for two or three days and then start with smaller amounts (i.e., one teaspoon or less per day), the symptoms should not reappear, and your body will then become accustomed to the product. You can then increase the quantity up to the recommended daily amount.

Does it require any special care before using?
Shake bottle slightly each time before taking, some crystallization is common in the bottom of the bottle. This does not effect the nutritional value. It is natural for the product to form crystals after a period of time due to the saturation of minerals. They are good for you. Try chewing them!

The botanical sediments in Matol/ Km attract particles of minerals which form crystalline matter. The amount of crystals found in each bottle may vary. Generally, the deposits will not form if a newly formulated bottle of product is shaken up on a regular basis.

In any case, the crystals do not in any way affect the preparation because they are basically inert material coming out of the solution. It takes some six to seven weeks before the crystals form.

If the bottle was kept long enough, the crystals could include some active minerals, such as calcium, but the amount would probably be insignificant.

What about storing?
It is best stored in the refrigerator or at room temperature.

Freezing does not affect our product. The freeze/thaw cycle is such that the bottle could be frozen solid and, when thawed, would not even have to be shaken before consumption. As the matter of fact, Matol allows headroom in the bottle of approximately 50cc for that purpose (i.e., so the product could freeze without bursting the bottle).

Heat does not affect the product. But we would advise you against keeping the product in the trunk of a car in Arizona during the summer for any great length of time. That is very hot and the product could "go off", much the same as many products do when subjected to high temperatures for extended periods of time.

How does one take the product?
Simply mix it with a couple of ounces of juice, milk, root beer, etc. This is recommend for those of you who dislike the taste. Some of us actually love it!

If you take it without a mix you should try holding and swishing it in your mouth for 20-30 seconds. It enters your bloodstream faster and is very good for the teeth and gums. After you swallow, pay attention to how your mouth feels and if you can feel it going down.

Why is Cascara Sagrade used in Km and not in Matol?
Karl Jurak's original formula, prepared in 1922 in Austria, did not contain Cascara Sagrada. Cascara was added sometime later because Karl Jurak realized that many people tended to be constipated and that a very gentle laxative would be helpful. When Matol applied to the Canadian Health Authorities for our DIN (the approval number that Canada issues to companies that market products such as ours), they were in the throes of deciding whether Canadians were using too much laxative. Because of this there was a possibility of a tremendous delay in obtaining our approval number. At the time it was necessary to eliminate Cascara so that we could get our approval number quickly. However, Matol asked the FDA in Washington for approval and they accepted it with Cascara. Therefore we continued to use it as it was originally.

Is Matol/ Km safe for children and pregnant women?
Yes, it is perfectly safe to continue taking our product during pregnancy.

Children should start with a minute amount and gradually work up to one teaspoon per day. Many children tend to like the preparation mixed with milk or juice, but they can take it without dilution.

Water (distilled or filtered):
The importance of water cannot be stressed enough. Eight half-pint glasses a day are recommend. Suggest you pre-measure and drink at room temperature.

It is important to remember the "Third" Rule:
One third will recognize benefits in 2-3 days, one third in 2-3 weeks and one third in 2-3 months. The product works immediately but it may take some time for you to realize the benefits.

Consequently, if people will be consistent for at least 3 months, it's as Karl Jurak has said; "for a lifetime, it has helped me, my family and friends. In 60 years, given time, I have never seen this product fail once in helping do some good for the people using it."
