The Matol Diet is designed to help people quickly attain weight loss and permanently sustain it. You will shed mostly fat because the diet deliberately creates an imbalance in your food regimen by greatly diminishing, temporarily, the carbohydrates from your diet. These carbohydrates include breads, cereals, legumes, rice, even healthy fruits and certain vegetables that are high in sugar. Why? Because as long as sugar, in any form, is entering your body, your body is not burning fat.

Live Off Your Body's Fat Reserves
To breath, to think, to move, your body draws on its three energy reserves: approximately 1.5% of its energy is stored in glycogen (energy stored mostly in the liver and muscles) derived from carbohydrates, 18.5% stored in the protein in your muscle tissue, and the remaining 80% is stored in your fat.

The body's first source of energy is its glycogen reserves, which have about 3-4 days worth of energy. Only once the glycogen reserve is entirely depleted does the body simultaneously turns to its other two energy reserves: fat and the protein in muscles.

After approximately three days on the Matol Diet, your glycogen reserves should be depleted and your body will begin to burn stored fat. Your body then produces ketonic bodies, which are natural appetite suppressants that will prevent cravings and provide you with energy.

Weight loss occurs when the body uses stored fat as its primary source of energy. As the stored fat is burned, the dieter usually experiences "turbo-charged" energy. This happens because fat generates nine calories of energy per gram burned compared to only four calories per gram of glycogen and protein.

Another benefit of burning stored fat is that toxins stored in the fat cells are likely to be released, helping you to become healthier as you lose weight.

How to Lose Fat, Not Muscle
How does the Matol Diet preserve and even enhance your muscle mass, if both fat and muscle energy reserves are depleted simultaneously? First, the potassium in Matol/ Km is a key ingredient in muscle building and development. Secondly, you eat delicious Matol Diet protein foods that average 18 grams, per portion. They are composed of a very high biological value, are nearly 95% absorbable and are complete with al 9 essential amino acids that the body does not produce and which must come from food or supplementation. These amino acids are the building blocks of your body.

Eating protein foods is so important because protein is the fabric of your muscle tissue, vital organs, eyes, hair, even your cells, hormones, enzymes, and immune system. The protein in the Matol Diet foods is derived from whey isolate and/or soy isolate and/or albumin from eggs, with only select amino acids extracted from these protein sources and non of the other constituents.

During the fat burning time, your pancreas will rest. Later in the Matol Diet Plan, it will be rebalanced. A well-functioning pancreas and mindful eating are important factors to avoid filling up fat reserves once again.
